Qualifications and skills:

Education of at least Master’s degree academic level in economics/development studies or related fields, or equivalent professional experience of at least 2 years in addition to the requested general professional experience


General professional experience:

At least 6 years of international professional experience in development, of which at least 4 years’ experience in fields related to private sector/MSMEs development.


Specific  professional experience:

  • Demonstration of solid knowledge in the area of private sector development support, whereby solid knowledge could be demonstrated by having undertaken at least 4 assignments in the area of private sector development over the last 5 years. Experience in the area of MSMEs and access to finance would be an additional advantage.
  • Significant experience in project identification and formulation of development projects, whereby significant experience could be demonstrated by having undertaken at least 2 assignments for Development Partners over the last 5 years. Experience in the formulation of job creation and private sector development as well as EU projects would be an additional advantage.
  • Experience in quantitative and/or qualitative surveys and analysis; this could be demonstrated by having undertaken at least 1 assignment in the area of evaluations.
  • Knowledge of sub-Saharan region desirable, experience in Ghana would be an advantage.
  • Fluency in English (excellent communication and writing skills).
  • Sufficient expertise regarding the main cross-cutting issues that the EC incorporates in its projects and programmes.

• Working days are from Monday to Friday, if not indicated otherwise in the ToR

• Per diem covers all expenses of the expert (local transport, hotel, meals, telecom, etc.) and it is only paid if the expert stay overnight.

• International travel: the EC only reimburse economy class flight tickets
